In January, 2015, I began pursing an Associates of Science in Midwifery degree at the Midwives College of Utah. My goal is to become a certified professional midwife (CPM) and be licensed by the California State Medical Board. Currently, I am apprenticing at a free standing birth center in Lancaster, California. In order to fulfill the required clinical work, I must attend births under the direct supervision of a licensed CPM. Without these births, I cannot become a midwife.
I am still accepting doula clients in the Bakersfield, Ca., area while attending midwifery school and apprenticing. I have back-up doulas to support my doula clients if I'm away at another birth, or if I get called to a birth during a doula client's labor. I will continue to offer everything in my doula package, including the post-partum visit and breastfeeding support to clients who hire me as their doula.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule an interview to see if I would be the doula for you.
